VSS Vintorez 9x39mm with PSO-1 scope

The Vintovka Snayperskaya Spetsialnaya or VSS for short, is a Russian manufactured sniper rifle from 1991, specifically designed for covert operations by Spetsnaz. The VSS fires the inherently subsonic and massive 9x39mm SP-5 round to maintain sublety, at the cost of a limited effective range of 400 meters. Although it features an optional fully automatic firing mode, and only 10 or 20 round magazines has ever been mass produced for it, the in-game variant only features semi-automatic fire and a 5 round magazine.

In Army of Two: The 40th Day, the VSS is unlocked via story progression. While it does have the lowest aggro of any of the available snipers, nothing else makes this weapon remarkable, even in comparison to the standard SVD. Both accuracy and damage is extremely sub-par in comparison to all other weapons of its class, even if they are mounted with silencers, thus eliminating the use for this otherwise interesting weapon.
