Gear refers to the character skins available for Rios and Salem in Army of Two: The 40th Day. Unlike in the armor in the original game, the selected gear does not provide any additional protection to the player, and is purely aesthetic. Gear is chosen at the same time as difficulty, and can only be changed once the game is completed.
Sets
There are a total of 7 sets of gear.
- Default
- Civil
- Light
- Medium
- Mall
- Old School
- End
The Default set changes the character's appearance, depending on what point the player is in the story, and is unlocked from the start. Upon completiong of the game, the other 6 sets of gear are unlocked, and if selected, the character will wear that gear, regardless of situation.

Trivia
- The Default, Light and End sets have the same appearance during selection.
- The Old School sets are almost identical to the heavy body armor from the first game.
- Even though no masks are worn with the Civil or Mall sets of gear, Salem and Rios will still act as if they arewearing masks.
